About Kula Kai

Kula Kai jewelry is handcrafted with love by designer Cheryl Caveney, in sunny Southern California. Designing & creating jewelry has been a passion of Cher’s since she was just a little New England girl in Connecticut. It wasn’t until moving to the West Village of New York City after college that she decided to turn her passion into a career, when someone stopped her on Bleecker Street and she literally sold her first necklace right off her neck.

Cher started out setting up shop at the Brooklyn Indie Market and The Market NYC. Now living in California, her designs reflect the way her own personal style has evolved, shaped by her bi-coastal life. Her line is inspired by her love for the ocean, beach, surf culture, and all things nautical, as well as her woodsy, equestrian upbringing. The culture, creativity, and art of many forms that she immersed herself in while living in Manhattan inspires her to be adventurous and take risks with her designs, while having fun with her quirky side. Cher’s mission  behind  Kula  Kai is to  create thoughtful  pieces based on joyful  moments  and memorable experiences and make them last forever in the form of wearable art. ♥

On my first trip there, I learned that Kula means open meadows and Kai means ocean, and I thought it would be the perfect name for my jewelry line, Kula Kai. The peace of mind and bliss that both environments bring me is exactly what I need before I sit down and start designing. My pieces are inspired by my love for traveling and exploring land and sea, interesting people I meet, lessons I learn, and beautiful things I see and hear along the way.” – Cheryl
