Kula Kai jewelry is handcrafted with love by designer Cheryl Caveney, in San Clemente, California. Designing & creating jewelry has been a passion of Cheryl’s since she was a little east coast girl in Connecticut. It wasn’t until moving to the West Village of New York City that she decided to turn her passion into a career, when someone stopped her on Bleecker Street and she sold her first necklace right off her neck.
Cheryl started out setting up shop at the Brooklyn Indie Market and The Market NYC. Now living in southern California, her designs reflect the way her own personal style has evolved, shaped by her bi-coastal life. Her line is inspired by her love of nature, astrology, the ocean, surf culture, and all things nautical, as well as her New England upbringing. The culture, creativity, and art of many forms in which she immersed herself while living in Manhattan inspires her to be adventurous and express her wild side with some of her more bold, unconventional pieces. Cheryl’s mission behind Kula Kai is to create thoughtful pieces based on joyful moments & memorable experiences and make them last forever in the form of wearable art. ♥
“Always falling in love with new places and people, I naturally fell head over heels with beautiful Hawaii and Hawaiian culture, even before I had gotten the chance to visit in person. On my first trip there, I learned that Kula means open meadows and Kai means ocean, and I thought it would be the perfect name for my jewelry line, Kula Kai. The peace of mind and bliss that both environments bring me is exactly what I need before I sit down and start designing. My pieces are inspired by my love for traveling and exploring land and sea, interesting people I meet, lessons I learn, and beautiful things I see and hear along the way.” – Cheryl
